LIGHT AND LACY PREEMIE BLANKET

Materials: Approximately 3 ounces (85 grams) Baby yarn (I used Bernat Sparkle), crochet hook size G - 4.5 mm (I used a skacel hook)
Finished blanket measures approximately 22" by 17"
Chain 84
Row 1: 1 dc in 4th chain, and in each chain across, chain 3, turn.
Row 2: 1 dc in 3rd dc, 1 dc backwards 1 dc making an X, *1 dc in 2nd de, 1 dc in 1st dc, rep from * across row, ending with 1 dc in last chain, ch 3, turn.
Row 3: *1 dc between 2 sides of X, chain 1, rep from * across row, ending with 1 chain, 1 dc in last chain, chain 3, turn.
Row 4: skip 1 dc *1 dc in chain after the next dc, 1 dc in chain before same dec, rep from * across row, ending with 1 dc in last chain. Chain 3, turn.
Row 5: dc in each stitch across, chain 3, turn.
Repeat rows 2 to 5 until desired length, ending with a row 5.
Finish off. I did not feel that an edging was necessary on this blanket, but if desired, you could edge with single crochet.
NOTE: I designed this pattern primarily to use for an easy project to donate to charity. It requires a small amount of yarn, and if you're like me, you probably have the supplies in your stash already. I think it might also be nice made as a multi-color blanket.
