ROOSTER FILET HANGING

Materials: Clea size 15 crochet cotton, steel hook size 7 or size desired. Wooden 1/4 inch dowel cut to 11 inches (or slightly longer than width of completed hanging). Finished hanging measures approximately 10 inches wide, 11 inches long.
Instructions:
To begin: Chain 110, dc in 8th chain from hook. Chain 2, skip 2 chains, dc in next chain, across foundation chain (35 open meshes). Continue following chart, reading odd numbered rows from right to left and even numbered rows from left to right. Start each row with chain 5.

Edging:
Round 1: Turn, slip stitch into first space, chain 3 (counts as first dc), 3 dc's in same space. Working around piece, work 4 dc's in each mesh, with 8 dc in each corner. Work 4 dc in same space as beginning 4 dc's in same space as starting 4 dc's. Join.
Row 2: (working across top of piece only) Chain 8 (counts as beginning tr and chain 4), skip next 4 dc, tr in next dc, (chain 4, skip 4 dc, tr in next dc) across top of piece only. Finish off.
Hanger: Chain 150, finish off.
Finishing:
Block and starch piece as desired (I pinned it out on my blocking board, pinned, and sprayed with starch).
Thread dowel through row 2 of edging. Tie hanger firmly at each end of dowel.
