SUNFLOWER BOOKMARK

Materials: Small amounts of size 10 bedspread weight crochet thread in the following colors: brown, shaded yellows, and green. Crochet hook size 7 or size desired.
Center:
With brown, chain 4. Join with slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1: Chain 1, work 6 sc's in ring. Join.
Round 2: Chain 1, work 2 sc in each stitch around. Join. (12 sc's)
Round 3: Chain 1. (1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch) around. Join. (18 sc's)
Finish off brown.
Petals:
Round 4: Join shaded yellows with slip stitch on any back loop of previous round. Working in back loops only for this round, chain 1, sc in same stitch as joining. (Chain 18, sc in next stitch) around, ending with chain 18, slip stitch in first sc. Finish off shaded yellows.
Stem:
Attach green with slip stitch to any sc on round 4.
Row 1: Chain 4, 2 triple crochet (tr) , chain 2, 3 tr. Turn.
Row 2: Slip stitch in first three tr's and in chain 2 space. (Chain 4, 2 tr's, chain 2, 3 tr's) in same space. Turn.
Rows 3 - 8: Repeat row 2.
Row 9: Slip stitch in first three tr's and in chain 2 space. (Chain 4, 6 tr's) in same space. Finish off.
Block and starch as desired.
Variation: By changing the colors, this bookmark can be made into a daisy. Simply use yellow for the center and white for the petals. Click here to see the daisy marker.
